Welcome to the website of Dier & Recht!

Dier & Recht (which translates into 'Animal and Law' as well as 'Animal and Justice') is a small foundation in The Netherlands dealing with the legal aspects of animal welfare. A team of six (voluntarily working) solicitors, a student of law and a specialist in human-animal relations are working to achieve the practical goal of stricter legislation in favor of animals, linked at better implementation and control. Besides that we strive for increased awareness in society concerning the (lack of) well-being of animals and the negative consequences of their exploitation for the environment.

Activities
Dier and Recht:

• Publishes 'Review of Animal Rights' (ROAR), a unique legal journal on animal welfare
• Initiates and performs inspections
• Investigates and reports animal welfare offences to the authorities
• Conducted campaigns on cattle markets, slaughter houses, cattle transports to Russia en Spain
• Supports a project for stray cats and dogs in Istanbul
• Gives legal advice on animal welfare issues
